Recent Travels - Los Angeles & Scottsdale

In the last couple months, we've taken two little getaways - and taken our little trooper on her first flights.  We went to Los Angeles to visit my sweet girlfriends and then took a mini vacation to Scottsdale, Arizona.

LA was so much fun.  I have missed my girlfriends so much, and it felt so good to be reunited with them.  It was beautiful weather and we ventured out to a few new restaurants, the Fairfax Flea Market, and we had a Sunday BBQ.  Andie did well on her first flight... no tears and was just observing all of the new things to see.
  Thanks Nikki for these pictures!!
Fairfax Flea Market
{another one from Nikki} - love these girls!

Then last week, we spent a couple days in Scottsdale, Arizona!  I have never been there and was really impressed by how nice it was.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was thinking more desert... and it was beautiful.  The cactus is truly an amazing plant to me and I couldn't believe how they were everywhere.  That was my first experience with them :)  Scottsdale has so many amazing restaurants and the shopping areas are beautiful.  We just strolled around and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  And spent some time just relaxing by the pool.  Andie got in to swim for the first time with TL and didn't seem to mind the water!
Our little frequent flyer now!  She did well on all of her flights.
While we were in Scottsdale, we ate at Olive & Ivy and True Food.  Both were delicious (we ate at True Food in LA as well).  Strongly recommend going there if you visit AZ.

TL and I love to travel together... it gives us our time together to reconnect.  We've stop buying gifts for  each other for the last few years, and now we just go somewhere and make memories!

ONE.  My mom keeps asking me about a Christmas wish list from us (she and my dad always love getting us a few gifts at Christmas, even though we're adults now!)  I have a few things i've been eyeing, so here's my wish list for now :)
Xmas Wish List

TWO. I am so excited for the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales - I haven't ever gone out to do physical shopping, but the online stuff is my favorite!  I've already got a few people finished, but who doesn't love a good deal!  Any good deals you know of?

THREE.  This little one had her 6 month check up on Monday and she is definitely growing.  She's 15 pounds 11 ounces and 25 inches long.  We think it's funny that she's only in the 14th percentile for height and the 40th for weight.  She definitely isn't missing any meals... and I love her little chubbies!

FOUR.  One of my favorite baby necessities lately is this blow up duck for the tub.  She loves her bath time and this is much better than the sink.  The first time she went in it, she wasn't so sure... but she's starting to really enjoy it, I think.

Dear Andie... you're 6 months old!

My daughter Andie,

I get asked all the time "how old is she?"... and within the last few days, I have been saying "6 months",  and the fact that those words are coming out of my mouth is both exciting and sad to me at the same time.  I have been fearful of these days, weeks, and months passing at an impossible pace, and I am afraid time just won't slow down.  So I am doing my best to relish in you every day.  Your smell, your dense little body, those smiles, sounds, laughs... even your sad face, it's all so precious.

You are changing so much every day.  You've gotten stronger, feistier, and much easier to distract when you're upset about something.  You started sitting up on your own in the last couple of weeks, although, you'll take a spill every once in a while, so we have to sit near you.  You can stand on your own if we lean you up against something.  You've started to love your jump-a-roo and have spent more than an hour bouncing around in it.

The way you stare at your hands, in pure wonderment, makes me see the world through a whole new perspective.  You have been amazed about your ability to move them, grab things, and put them in your mouth now for 6 weeks.  Sometimes, you'll be shaking or eating a toy, and you'll catch a glimpse of your hands and suddenly your whole attention is focused on these amazing things that you can control.

This month we had our first flight, we went to Los Angeles to visit your aunties in LA, and a flight attendant called you "a little angel".  You didn't make a peep and slept the majority of the time both ways.  You smile at strangers when they talk to you, which was a lot of fun in the crowded airport.  You did have a blow out on the way there, but walking out of the airplane with a baby wrapped in a blanket is much better than walking out with a sad baby.  You were a good girl while we were there, laid back, happy, and taking in the new places, faces, and experiences.  I am very proud to be your mommy.

You've been getting into a little sleep habit at night lately... a couple of times a week, you'll go for 7-8 hours.  I think the rice cereal helps to fill your little belly so you don't get hungry in the middle of the night.  You had your first taste of sold food (besides rice cereal) on November 8th.  I made sweet potatoes and you seemed to like them.

We celebrated your first Halloween.  You dressed as a lady bug with your cousin, Stella, and as a little mouse on Halloween.  You seemed to like the pumpkin patch, too.

You make lots of noises while getting rocked to sleep.  You grunt and hum and we think it's adorable. You love being held in the air and spun around.  Daddy can always get you to smile if he lifts you up or flies you around like you're an airplane.  You laugh, giggle, and scream with happiness!

You have started paying more attention to your weenie dogs in the past month.  Grabbing for them, opening your mouth to try to "kiss" them, and watching them intently as they run around and play with each other.  They are most likely going to go through another adjustment phase when you're able to chase and play with them.

You're wearing size 2 diapers and 3-6 month and 6 month sized clothes.  You are a healthy little chubby thing, but you're petite as well.  Some of our newborn baby friends are just as tall as you are, but you've got a few pounds on them.  You are amazed by ceiling fans, looking at yourself in mirrors, Sophie the Giraffe, and your toy cow.

You love your bjorn... facing forward and seeing everything is the easiest way to take you out.  You've been known to sit in there for 2 hours while daddy and I get our errands done.  You still dislike the car... the iPad will occasionally work as a distraction, but for your longer car rides, we just try to wait until it is nap time for you.  You've gotten much better at riding in the stroller, but still aren't a huge fan of being strapped in.

Everyday, I make it a priority to just take a few minutes to snuggle you, squeeze you, and stare at you.  You are just a little bundle of joy!  Even when you are sad, or when Demandie Andie comes out, I still can't help but love you to pieces.  Daddy and I talk about you everyday.  We feel so lucky to have you and tell you "you are the most loved baby, ever!"

I can't believe my baby is 6 months old.  I love you, Andie.  And I will forever and ever.  Unconditionally.

Love,
Your Mama

ONE.  I was gone for most of the day yesterday at work, and as I drove home yesterday evening, what to my wondering eyes would appear?  A stroller with two tiny weenie dogs pulling it (along with my husband running behind it).  So funny!

TWO.  We celebrated my beautiful mama's Birthday on Sunday with her side of the family.  They all came to our house and it was so nice to see them all.  In years past, we only saw them during the Christmas season... but this year, we have done so much better seeing them several times!

THREE.  I saw these shoes on Instagram (I can't remember who posted them) but they look awesome.  They're called Tieks.  Super expensive, but for anyone who wears heels to work but does a lot of walking, this looks like an awesome idea.  I don't need them for that reason, but they look really comfy and cute! Oprah apparently loves them, too.
FOUR.  Andie thinks my sister is the funniest thing she's seen lately.  This giggling stage has to be one of my favorites... my mouth always hurts from smiling after her giggling spurts.

Announcing Stella {my beautiful niece}

I am FINALLY sharing some sweet pictures of my beautiful niece, Stella.  I helped my sister with making her birth announcements, and we could not pick one.  Tiny Prints has too many cute ones to choose from.  Here were a few of our favorites... and more to come of Stella - she and Andie have had maaaany photoshoots together. :)

 {look at her sweet hair!}

Sweet Stella, we are so happy to have you!  You are just beautiful and such a good baby girl <3 i="">

Thank you, Veronica {from Nica Photography} for letting us play around with all of the adorable pictures you took!

ONE.  November 1st - the holidays are here.  Last night was so much fun - Andie had 2 costumes this year (we went from none to two in the same day, thanks Gramz!)  She was tuckered out early from all of the excitement.

TWO.  TL bought Maximus & Zeus brand new collars from this website called Huckberry.  He heard of it from my BIL, Dave - he and his girlfriend Samantha live in SF and seem to know every cool website ever made.  This place has a variety of things from all over the world, including dog collars, apparently. :)  Max and Zeus were really happy for their new necklaces.

Huckberry also has a lot of cool gifts for guys.

THREE.  I officially need to go to headband addict anonymous.  I can't stop buying darling headbands for Andie and Stella.  I have two favorite places to shop on Etsy... The Pleated Polka Dot and Pretty Little Elm.  And now I just realized I need to get some Christmas bows for the girls.  Someone help!!!

FOUR.  I put a message on my Facebook earlier this week that I am collecting pajamas for foster kids and families in need for the winter boutique (a small "store" we open up) at my work.  I can't even begin to express how blown away by the generosity of my family and friends.  In just a few short days, I have already collected 26 pairs of jammies - coming from all over the state.   I truly am so blessed to have so many amazing and generous people in my life.  Wow.  What a difference these warm, brand new jammies will make to a child or teenager who needs them.

FIVE.

Happy Friday and have a beautiful weekend.
