DIY: "Andie" sign for her room

I am not very good with the DIY stuff... I have been trying really hard to do a few of my own little projects for Andie.  I wanted to have something with her name on it for a shelf in her room, so after looking around for some inspiration on pinterest... I figured out a way to make one.

I am not sure if any of you have tried to free-hand paint chevron stripes... but I knew my hand was not going to be steady enough to do that.  So I figured I would just make a stencil to paint with.

Here's how I did it.  The rest of the project was just a little painting & hot gluing.  I know it's nothing spectacular... but it was definitely one of the most creative things I have done this year. :)

I did 1.5 inch by 1 inch - it was just a shot in the dark.
 Taped it down and painted
It's not perfect... but it worked pretty well!
Painted her letters pink - used $2.00 martha stewart paint that I already had
The finished product... can't wait to get this up on the shelf (once we get those shelves hung!)

Hope you're having a great week!

Adam's Fire Truck Themed 1st Birthday Party

My sweet nephew Adam turned one year old on March 12th.
It's hard to believe it's been a year since I held him in my arms for the first time - he was such a little bundle of love.  He has grown so much and developed his own little personality.  I am so lucky I get to be his auntie!

My sister (with some help from her good friend Buffy) planned an adorable little Fire Truck Themed 1st Birthday for him at a park in their neighborhood.  Adam was so good... he loved the cake (especially the frosting) and was such a trooper through the hundreds of pictures and all of the people lovin' on him!
His "One" onesie is from the etsy shop Party Stiches
 Family shot!
 Swingin with pops!
Sharing cake with mama!
"Thanks for getting fired up about my Birthday!"
 Mama and her baby!
I just love him!

Hope you're havin' a wonderful weekend!

Happy Weekend & Pinterest Finds

Happy Friday!!  It's supposed to be sunny this weekend, so I am hoping to soak in a little vitamin D and do some relaxin' with my main squeeze.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks with a few ups and downs, so I am just looking forward to enjoying the spring days!

I've been using pinterest as my distraction at night when I am wide awake... and have found lots of good ideas to share - and you know me, I am a sucker for quotes!

Love this idea for friends moving into a new home!

I love mod podge - I really need to get better at home crafting!

Time consuming, but think it works better than the paper ones for a nursery.

This just looked delicious - almond milk with coffee ice cubes.

Hope you have a happy weekend :)

PS.  I officially made the switch to bloglovin... but it didn't transfer all of my blogs into it.  Please leave your link in the comments so I can be sure I am following you there!

Baby Lesh: 30 weeks

We've made it to 30 weeks! {yesterday}

Feelin' pretty good... but would love all the good thoughts, prayers, and vibes you can send.
We finally got her nursery chair, and a few more things for the nursery... now I just need to figure out the decor - oh dear, I need some help with that one.  Can't wait to share.  Our baby shower that my sweet sisters are hosting is coming up in a couple weeks and I am so anxious to spend a few hours with some fabulous ladies who are sharing in our happiness.

I haven't been sleeping well lately - insomnia has set in.  I think a lot of women feel this when they are pregnant, so I know I am not alone.  My favorite part of being pregnant is definitely feeling (and watching) her move in my belly.  It's amazing seeing the feet, hands, arms, and legs jolt my belly from side to side.  I also love how much she responds when TL talks to my belly and pokes at her.

I hope you have a great week.
I saw this on pinterest  - during my 4 hour spirt of being awake last night - and had to share... maybe we all have a little something to learn from our furry family members. :)

Maui Getaway

I love Hawaii, it's one of my favorite places on the planet.
We are so fortunate to live in California... where we are only a 5 hour plane ride from paradise.
This trip, we had nothing on the agenda... except relaxing, eating, and just being together.

When people say February is a great time for whale watching in Hawaii, they aren't kidding.  We were there last February (on Kauai) and saw many... but from Maui, they were jumping just a few hundred yards off shore.  We didn't have to get on a boat to see them.  We saw more than 30 whales, easily, many of them putting on shows for all of the people looking so closely for them.  It was truly amazing!!

It was fun to be there with my big ol' belly...  I was nervous at first, but relaxed after I saw how many pregnant people flock to Hawaii.  TL and I both walked and worked out.  A lot.  I walked at least 3-4 miles everyday, and it sure made it easier for me to splurge on some of the amazing hawaiian desserts - oh my gosh, they're good!  We stayed at a condo with a kitchen, so we were able to make breakfast and lunch - and even made dinner a few of the nights!  We did visit Sansei Sushi for their great early bird sushi special (if you're on Maui - it's really good and the prices are fantastic before 6pm... make reservations, there is a long line!), and we ate dinner at Duke's, Tropica, and an italian place at the hotel called Pulehu.

We are so fortunate to have been able to get away for our last big hurrah before the crazy and amazing life change of this baby girl arriving in our life.  We talked a lot about how much we are looking forward to her arrival and how truly lucky we are.  It was so nice to be together... and the moments we spent doing nothing, playing games (we did a lot of that), or watching the sunset - are some I will always remember.

TL is way out there swimming.
playing yahtzee and watching the sunset
She looks huge in this picture :)
love this guy
28 weeks!

Dinner on our last night in paradise... it was a gorgeous sunset!

Have a beautiful week!

Baby Lesh: 28 Weeks

How i'm feeling: Great - she's getting so big... it's hard to believe we're already this far along!

How far along: 28 weeks

Size of the baby: estimated at 14.8 inches and 2.25 pounds!

Total Weight Gain: not sure - last check about 12-13 pounds... probably more now that we're on our babymoon :)

Maternity Clothes:  while away, I am rockin' a tankini and a bikini, lots of dresses, and my regular shorts and shirts.

Gender: a GIRL... Andie! #andielesh

Movement: up until about 2 days ago, the movement was constant.  Now that she's getting bigger, I think she may be starting to run out of move.  But I still feel her wiggling around in there.

Sleep: it's okay.

What I miss: sleeping on my tummy.

Cravings: fruit & veggies... and dessert (but that's not abnormal)

Symptoms: just some slight discomfort in the mornings and evenings.  But truly, nothing major!

Best moments this week:
+getting the invitation to my shower in the mail from my sister... I was so anxious to receive it, and it's so cute.  I feel so special that both of my sisters are working to plan something so amazing for me & Andie.
+being away with TL on our Babymoon... we are really enjoying just relaxing and doing nothing.  I know these times will be few and far between once we have a little girl running around, but we're both okay with that :)
+having so many people ask me questions and make comments about my pregnancy.  I feel very special that people ask and make an effort to give their advice, etc.  Doesn't mean we need to take it all, though ;)

Looking forward to:
+ I know this sounds crazy... but that 30 week mark!
+ making a dent in organizing and decorating the nursery... I can't wait to get our rocking chair!
+ Our 3D baby debut ultrasound in a few days... I hope we can see more of her little face.

I can't believe we are already getting this far along, this baby girl is going to be here before we know it!

I hope your week is off to a great start!
{PS. happy birthday to my bro-in-law Joe}

March Goals

Ahhh, March!  You're here already!
I am loving trying to stick with these monthly goals I make... even if they are easy... and turning out to be very similar each month.

February Goals:
1. 5 miles a week (or at least 3 workouts) - CHECK!
2. Try 2 new recipes... Ehhh, sort of.  Got hooked on a new recipe for parfaits (thanks Lady) and a new recipe for spinach salads... but nothing gourmet.
3. Moisturize every day - kept up for my face, but I forget sometimes to do my big ol' belly.
4. Do something special with/for TL for our last Valentine's Day with just the 2 of us. - He got sick... but we still celebrated the next day with dinner and tulips!
5. Take Maximus & Zeus for at least 5 walks - check!
6. Eat at least 3 pieces of whole fruit a day and eat healthy! - Check (for the most part!)

March Goals:
1. 5 miles or at least 3 work outs a week.
2. Take the pups for 5 walks
3. Eat fruit and veggies every day
4. Do a homemade dinner (new recipe) for TL and eat at our dining room table
5. Clean out/organize guest closet.

Currently, TL and I are taking some time for R&R.  More on that soon :)  So excited to be officially (on Monday) in the third trimester of pregnancy with this sweet girl... loving her more and more each day!

Have a wonderful weekend!
