Cheers, 2013! January hopes...

At the beginning of last year, I came to my own revelation about New Year's Resolutions... they don't work well for me.

Each week, sometimes each day, I write lists.  These are my daily resolutions, and for me, seeing the small accomplishments help me feel like I am making progress.  These aren't just to-do lists for work, I write them for everything.

I like taking things a month at a time.

2013 is going to be a huge year for us.
I am a little scared (terrified, actually) about pregnancy and pray we have a healthy baby girl.  Of course I am looking forward to all that comes along with having a baby... but first and foremost, I want her to be healthy (and a smooth delivery would be nice, too!).

For January... I have a few goals:
1. 5 miles a week.  Walk, elliptical, crawl... whatever it takes.  Exercise this month is a priority for me.
2. Eat healthy.  Everyday... Whole grain. Fruit. Veggies.  Don't over indulge.  (I've been doing pretty good at this lately)
3. Take care of my skin... moisturize every day.
4. Clean and organize my closet.  Most importantly... the drawers and shoes!
5. Try two new recipes.  (This is a tough one for me... any ideas?)

We had a fabulous NYE... more on that soon :)

I hope you have a beautiful start to 2013... Cheers!!
Think happy.  Be positive.

#4 would be the most difficult resolution for me to keep... even for a month! Lol. But, I absolutely understand where you're coming from as far as taking things day by day and seeing small accomplishments take shape. :)

Great goals for this month--I think monthly goals are much more feasible than yearly resolutions! As for the recipes, Pinterest gives me TONS of ideas! January is good for soups, too, and they're pretty easy. Happy New Year!

Looks like great goals for Jan! As for recipes, I like to start by going to a farmer's market, picking up something I've never had before and then look up recipes after. It is always a fun challenge.

I do monthly goals too, and love it! I used a great checklist during my pregnancy to prepare for baby (that I split up into months), ill email it to you!

Hello gorgeous girl, Happy New Year to you and TL :)

You are going to be a wonderful mother - although I know enough to know that everyone in the world can tell you that & yet still you will worry!!

I always think that motherhood is the one of the few things in life that you cannot imagine how it will be until it actually happens. No one or nothing can prepare you for it....but all I will say is that it is a million times better than you can even possibly imagine it will be.

You look beautiful in the photo....I hope the sickness has eased and you are feeling much better.

I wish you a wonderful 2013,
Much love,
Simone XX

I love the idea of taking it one month at a time. So much less overwhelming with resolutions that way. Hope your year is amazing!

I love the idea of having mini goals for each month - and all of your goals are very realistic!
You're such a sweet woman and I know that will translate to your beautiful daughter. I hope you're feeling better and my fingers will be crossed for healthiness for you and baby and for a smooth delivery!
Happy 2013, sweet girl. xox

Happy New Year!!!! You are going to be such a wonderful Mommy....there's nothing (and everything) to be terrified of. TRUST ME...We had a little boy 6 months ago, and you have no choice but to learn as you go! But, it's the most gratifying experience in the entire world. :) And, there are so many wonderful Mommy blogs for advice...don't be afraid to use them. We all did/do!!

One of my goals is to take care of my skin, too...I am so bad at washing my face before bed....yikes!!

Good luck with January goals!! I think this is the best way to reach them!!

The blogs Deliciously Organic and 100 Days of Real Food both have some great, unprocessed recipes :)

I like your approach to goals! I might give this a try... a monthly goal list. I definitely make lists everyday and it helps me accomplish more.

Oh, I love the idea of monthly resolutions. It's perfect, less stressful and more manageable! Health is one of my big topics too. Here's to doing it and making both of our lives better!

Monthly goals make so much more sense. You are so smart. :) So glad you found my blog so I could find yours. New follower!

I totally agree about making shorter-term goals as opposed to "resolutions" lol ... My only January goal is to run/walk/crawl a mile a day bc there's no excuse not to and I'm hoping that will be the habit of exercise back into my life!! Happy new year!

I dig you taking your goals in smaller lists... That makes a lot more sense to me.

I think you have great goals, and a very exciting year ahead of you!

Taking care of my skin is definitely one of the biggest resolutions I have. I also have - stop going to Starbucks every single darn day (so expensive and unhealthy!) and also to drink a lot of water. That NYE picture is gorgeous!!! Good luck with the baby & I am so excited to follow along on your 2013 adventures!

Those are great goals! Ina Garten is always a great go to for recipes - I recently made her winter minestrone (do a search for it) and it was delish! Tons of veg too so you can kill two birds with one stone!
