It's Okay to be Thankful Thursday

Neely from A Complete Waste of Make Up, Amber from Brunch With Amber and myself are linking up for another It's Okay/Thankful Thursday Mash Up.  So many of you have joined in... and it is great reading some of the responses.  Here we go again... {time is flying by}
It's Okay that I still have a pile of laundry to do from our trip.  It'll get done.  Eventually.

It's Okay that sometimes when I have mornings to work at home I don't get out of my jammies.

It's Okay that I have a closet of clothes and still can never figure out what to wear.

I love taking a few minutes out of my week to remind myself of the wonderful things in life that I have to be thankful for.
I am thankful for girlfriends... we have a fun trip planned coming up, and I can't wait to catch up with them.

I am thankful for my new pair of Sanuks.  They are so comfy and go with everything!

I am thankful for pinterest and all of the lovely people on there who fill my mind with creative ideas and recipes.  I'll get around to acting on these ideas.  Eventually. :)

I am thankful for my mom. Always.

Hope you're having a great Thursday... link up below and let me know what you're thankful for :)

Our week in Kaanapali, Maui

What a fun week our family {minus sister & nephews} spent in Maui.
We stayed at the Kaanapali Alii, and it was beautiful.
Being jet lagged the first few mornings, I woke up early and took walks with my mom, grandpa and grandma.  I enjoyed getting to spend time with them.  I heard lots of stories from the past and I enjoyed hearing them and asking questions.  My grandpa is one of the most incredible men I will ever know - he has the purest and kindest heart and makes a friend in everyone he meets.  And my grandma, she's a spitfire.  Married for more than 62 years... the two of them make quite a pair - and I hope to have a happy, long and successful marriage like them.  I am quite proud to be their grand daughter.

The theme of this trip for me was family.  Spending time with my sister, BIL, parents, and grandparents is what made this fun.  We played in the waves, spent time in Lahaina, Whalers Village, laid by the pool, played cards and relaxed.  We also went out to dinner... a lot.  We ate at Longboards, Dukes, Leilani's, and my favorite... The Plantation House. {we ate there on Father's Day}

One of the days, we took a sailing trip to go snorkeling on the Gemini.  I definitely recommend this excursion if you go to Kaanapali.  The staff is friendly, the gear is clean, the boat is beautiful, and they serve a really yummy lunch and have an open bar.

On Father's Day - my dad, sister, BIL, TL and I went wakeboarding on the ocean.  We woke up early and met up with Ryan from Wake Maui for a fun few hours out on the boat.  We wakeboarded and wake surfed - then he took us to a secret turtle cleaning station where we got to swim with the turtles.  It was awesome.  If you love wakeboarding - do this... it's so much fun and the salt water makes you very buoyant.
First day - off the airplane and into the pool.
Every morning, my grandpa woke up early and watched the surfers

 Dad wake surfing

All of us at The Plantation House on Father's Day - special memories.

Going to Hawaii is always a past, present, & future feeling for me.
I think about the past trips going with my family and friends.  People we've been with who have since passed away and the fun memories with them.  I think of the present - being there right now and the special people I am with.  And of course, I think of the future - trips with my family and hopefully kids and making memories.

Thank you to my parents & grandparents for taking us along on this trip.  We made memories that I will never forget.  We feel so blessed.  Aloha!

It's Okay to be Thankful Thursday

Last week, Neely from A Complete Waste of Make Up, Amber from Brunch With Amber and myself did our very first It's Okay/Thankful Thursday Mash Up.  So many of you joined in... and it was great reading some of the responses.  Because I was on vacation, I wasn't able to explore as much as I wanted!!
It's Okay that I just got back from Hawaii and haven't unpacked a single thing.  (Except computer and work stuff)

It's Okay that I still need to lay out by the pool and get tan(er).  One week isn't long enough in paradise ;)

It's Okay that it's 100 degrees outside and I still take baths.

It's Okay that I have a large to - do list and I am taking a few minutes to write this up.
I love taking a few minutes out of my week to remind myself of the wonderful things in life that I have to be thankful for.
I am thankful for our air conditioner.  I know it's simple, but so many people can't afford to use theirs or don't have one at all.  It's so miserable being unbearably hot.

I am thankful for the many memories made on the trip to Hawaii with (part of) my family. {recap coming soon}
I am thankful for my friend Melissa... she stayed at our house all week and took care of Maximus & Zeus.  It's always comforting leaving home and knowing someone is here constantly to look over your house and especially your pets.

I am thankful for my job with Hands4Hope.  I feel so blessed to be in a position where I get to work with a passionate and determined Executive Director, and hundreds of compassionate, sweet, and hard working youth.

I am thankful for two amazing sponsors - Trish and MJ - who donated $15.00 to Hands4Hope to put their ad on my blog.  If you're interested... click here.  Please visit their blogs... both of them are great people.

Beach Wear

It's time to take on summer - Maui style.
Here are a few things I have packed away.
I purchased the purple swim suit from J Crew last summer and I love it.  I don't actually own any of the other things... but I own a few similar items :)

Off to the beach.

Hope you're having a great week!
What do you think of the blue high wasted suit?  I don't own one yet, but I think that's going to be a future purchase if I can find one I really like.

It's Okay to be Thankful Thursday

Today... I am linking up with Neely from A Complete Waste of Make Up and Amber from Brunch with Amber to bring you the first ever
"It's Okay to be Thankful Thursday"

The 3 of us are so excited to try out this mashup! We love the idea of not having to make people choose what linkup they want to do. So... we thought - how about If ITS OK and Thankful Thursdays meshed together! You can talk about what you are thankful for, whats OK and Whats OK to be thankful for!

This week, I feel abundantly thankful.. and THAT is OKAY :)

I'm on vacation in beautiful Maui with my grandparents (my dad's parents), my parents, and one of my sisters and bro in law.
Married almost 62 years... my grandpa is 85 and my grandma is 82.
I feel so thankful to be in this beautiful place with people I love so much.
I keep putting myself in the moment to remind myself to soak in every moment of this trip.  It means so much to me to be here with all of them.

My mom, grandpa and I took a walk along the beach early this morning.  I listened to my grandpa tell me stories about his time in the Navy when he was 19.  So special.

Me and my sister were twins tonight.  We found these matching dresses while we were shopping a while back, and I had to pair them with the bib necklaces :)  Love this sweet girl.
Link up below and tell us what you're thankful for... or what's Ok!
Hope you have a fabulous Thursday!!

White Themed Bunco

Erin was the beautiful hostess for this month's Bunco!

Several of you have asked me what Bunco is... and so I thought would do a quick explanation.
12 girls, 12 months.  We each host one month - you do the food, a theme, and drinks.
It's a dice game - 3 rounds.  First round, you roll for one's, then two's and so on.  You do that up to 6 (6 sides on the dice) and then you go to the next round.  After each number rolling, you switch and move seats based on if you win or lose that round.  It's confusing to explain, but very easy to play!
We all think it's just an excuse to get together, eat dinner, catch up and relax.

I am so lucky to have all of these amazing ladies in my life!
For white theme - we all wore white... she made a homemade dinner of corn, BBQ chicken, pasta salad, and salad.  White wine was the drink. :)
Our hostess and cook (with a little help from her hubs) Erin
 Tara, Shannon, Kelly, Melissa
 Jess, Michelle, Nora
Special recipe corn on the cob... it was delicious!
The pups - Scout and Bo
The winner's envelopes!
This month's winners!
The gang... all in white.

Hope you have a great start to your week!
'Thankful Thursday' link up coming up again on 6/14 -
hope you'll join in!

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

Linking up with A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social

How did you come up with your blog name? I love Sex & The City... and often in the series she would say "and Then I Got To Thinking...".  It just stuck, and I love it :)

What is your favorite thing about blogging? Definitely the amazing community of women I have met and come to know.  I love connecting with others.

What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without? Crafts, fashion, recipes... you name it!

Facebook or Twitter? and why? Definitely Twitter.  It's just fun.  Facebook is great for the friends/family I don't see often.

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?  Michael Patrick King, the writer of SATC.  Probably because I would love to be a part of what he writes about and I think he was brilliant with the series.

What is something you want people to know about your blog? It's positive, almost always.  Not because my life is perfect (in no way is it) but because this is how I choose to look at my life - positively and happy.  I write about my experiences and little things that inspire me or make me feel warm.  But... I am honest.  I'm don't write things to make myself look more glamourous than I am.

Summer Dressing for my Body Type

Lately, I have been trying to explore fashion a little bit.  I am definitely far from fashionable, but I think I have my own little style I like to wear.  I've noticed what looks best on my body type is looser fitting shirts - so I have taken a liking to many of them.  And of course, I rarely leave the house with out a necklace.  Statement necklaces are one of my favorite things!  High waisted skirts, pants, and shorts are also best for my body type.  The low-rise fashion phase never looked right on me.  Also, super short shorts aren't my friend.

Here are a few outfits I put together.  I would probably wear any of them.  Putting these together helps me figure out what I have in my own closet to wear.
I think any of these would be nice for a casual summer day.

Thankful Thursday

It's been months since I have done a Thankful Thursday post - I used to do them weekly, and they were so important to me!
Since it's been a while, I also thought it would be fun to do a link up - I always enjoy reading other people's blogs about what they're thankful for.  It's always encouraging to see other people staying positive about life :)

Here's what I am thankful for:
My husband.  I know - typical.  But truly, this guy still gives me butterflies.  We have a relationship that I am very thankful for - we're not perfect, but we make the most of it.  He has a good heart and my family adores him.

My grandparents - at 85 {grandpa} and 82 {grandma} took all of their kids on a trip to Monterey.  They've been married more than 60 years.
Their kids are my dad and his 6 brothers... and their wives!  It's truly rare that you find a family this big and this close.  We feel very lucky.
They are a pretty amazing group of people and I feel abundantly blessed to have them all in my life.
Check them out here doing a bike ride around Monterey {YEP, grandma and grandpa rode along with them... it was actually THEIR idea!}
All 7 boys and their 7 wives - with Grandma & Grandpa
Grandpa and his 7 boys... I love them all!

My sisters. Because they're there for me no matter what, and love me unconditionally.

The Garage Door Repair Man.  Yep.  He came in 30 minutes when my garage door sparked and smoked on Tuesday.  It wasn't cheap to fix, but at least it's done!

The Sacramento Area bloggers - so many of them showed up to the meet up I planned and it made me feel so warm to get to know so many amazing ladies!  Thank you!!

Hope you're having an amazing week!

Oh, Baby... time flies!

I can't believe how much my sweet nephew, Adam, has grown.  He's already going to be 3 months next week - time is flying!!  It seems like he was just born.

I am always taking pictures of the sweet little man.  I love visiting with him and holding him.
He truly is a beautiful baby.
{You've seen them all if you follow me on instagram: @tracyzlesh}

You may remember this picture of him from the day after he was born

Now look at him & all his smiles :)
I can't get enough of his baby feet!!

And of course... I will always adore my first baby nephew Ryan. (Adam's big brother)
I can't believe he's 3!

Isn't it amazing how fast time goes?

Hope you're enjoying your Wednesday!!

PS. Tomorrow - I am doing a Thankful Thursday LINK UP... just write about a few things you're thankful for and add your link.  You don't even have to be a blogger - you can write it on your facebook or twitter account and just put a link to the URL where you wrote it :)
