Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

I can't believe November is just two days away!
October flew by, and was a very busy month.  The non profit I work for, Hands4Hope, has our biggest fundraiser of the year during October... our Haunted House.  I've been busy working there and am very happy to say it's been a successful year!  I will share pictures soon.

I am very excited for November!  I am ready for the cooler temperatures, Thanksgiving, and the feeling of the Holidays being just around the corner.

TL and I got a few hours to escape this week and drove up the hill to a pumpkin patch in Apple Hill.  We took the pups with us and went for a walk around!
Have a beautiful weekend!

Razors for Reddell

TL is a firefighter/paramedic at a local fire department.  It's actually a family affair... my dad, brother in law, 3 uncles, & cousin are all firefighters for the same department. (My dad retired 2 years ago!)

Being a firefighter means you're away from your family and with your "fire" family for 1/3 of the year, even for holidays, weekends, and overnight.  The guys (& some gals) get pretty close.

Recently, one of the guys was diagnosed with cancer.  His name is Mike and he is married and has two beautiful little girls.  He recently finished up his first round of chemo and lost all of his hair.

In support of their fellow firefighter, the guys organized "Razors for Reddell".  They raised money and shaved their heads!

I wasn't able to attend (I've been a little under the weather) but my sister and nephew went and she gave me the photos.  I wish I could have been there!

My nephew, Ryan, supporting his dad!
They had a great turn out!
My bro in law
My Uncle Steve
 TL in the process
TL and my bro in law, Jason - all shaved!
Family - cousins Scott & Joel, Uncle Steve, bro in law, & Uncle Bryan.  {TL had left because he got a call}

We are thinking all good thoughts for Mike and his family!  He has the support of an entire community behind him :)

My Fall & Winter Wish List

I get about 819 emails a day from all my favorite stores {don't we all?} with all their deals and new items.
Half the time I delete, but sometimes {when I can't sleep} I take a little time to browse.
And, with the seasons changing, I am realizing just how much I love getting dressed in the Fall & Winter.  I also love browsing Etsy for the homemade goods.
So, this is my little "wish list".
Hunter Red Rain Boots & Toms Wrap Boot
Halogen 'Brianna' Boot & Steve Madden 'Arrena' Bootie
Braided Scarf by SilkPlum on Etsy & Frenchi Ruffled Pointelle Scarf
Chance or Fate Stripe Raglan Sweatshirt & Rubbish Peter Pan Collar Shirt
Frenchi Cropped Cape & Rubbish Space Dye Dolman Sleeve Sweater

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Costume Ball

I've been absent for more than a week!  Eeek!
Yesterday was TL's 31st Birthday... can't believe it's already passed, seems like it was just yesterday that I threw this big surprise 30th for him.  I can't believe a whole year has passed.  I love him so much, and we celebrated this year with family!

On Saturday, the non profit I work for had our biggest fundraising event of the year!  Many of my close family and friends came out to support me, and I was so appreciative!  We raised some great money and the costume ball was a hit...  I'm not sure what my costume is... supposed to be Robin Hood, but I think I looked more like a leprechaun.  Didn't have a lot of time to pick out what I wanted with getting ready for the event, so maybe next year I will plan ahead ;)
We definitely get the 'worst couple costume' of the year award ;)
Playing cards with the skeleton.
The founder of our organization, Jen... one of my good friends, too!
The table centerpieces... "the Divas" table was my girlfriends table.
TL, my brother in law (green teletubby), and my dad (Popeye!)
My sister and bro in law... so cute!
My MIL, Cindy, and mama!
On their way to the ball!

Hope you are having a fabulous week... can you believe November is just around the corner!?!

Wacky Wig Bunco

It's always a good time with my bunco girls... and this month was hosted by Melissa at my house!
The theme... wigs.
Per usual, lots of laughs, good drinks, yummy food and good conversation.
On the menu: turkey & chicken chili and corn bread (homemade, thanks Melis)
desserts were also homemade - and very halloweenie!
The drinks were: whipped vodka mixed with root beer or orange soda. very yummy!

I can't believe the one year anniversary of our Bunco group is coming up in January!  I adore these girls and am so lucky to have them in my life  :o)

Maximus' Lampshade

Poor Maximus.
He's wearing the embarrassing head cone.
But he's being a good sport about it.
my good boy.
{trying to cuddle}
This is what it looked like before the doctor (on both armpits!!) - it's already looking better!
{Sitting on my lap while I work}
my sweet boy.
And, I didn't want to leave out poor Zeus.  He is not loving his brother with the cone because he has no one to play with!

A lot of people yesterday mentioned their dogs have itching problems.  I talked to our vet and here is what he recommends:
-fish oil supplements from costco (smallest mg you can find for small dogs)
-Oatmeal based shampoos

another blogger, Carolina Charm, mentioned that she put her dog on a grain free food and has seen a big difference!

Maximus doesn't just have itchy skin - he got a full on bacterial infection under his armpits.  That's why he was itching so bad.  But... both he and Zeus are just itchy, so hopefully the supplement and weekly baths will help him out.
He's on 2 different antibiotics and a topical spray, but he is already looking much better (minus the cone).

PS. have you entered the PopScent fragrance giveaway??
