Gwyneth does a good job in character of a drunk country singer. Numerous times during the movie, my friend Shannon and I leaned into each other and said "she's a disaster."
It's all about a country singers climb back up the ladder from ground zero. A few times during the movie, I was reminded of "Walk The Line" with Reese Witherspoon. There are a few duet songs that almost look like they are copied. If you like country music (and I do) you will hum along to a few of the songs.
The ending isn't what you expect, and I prefer non-predictable movies sometimes.
If you're looking for a movie to entertain yourself & the girls... go see it. But if you're looking for a profound, moving experience... look elsewhere.
{this was after the movie... we all look like we saw The Ring!}
Happy Friday!

I feel the same way you did about the movie. Loved the music, I just bought the soundtrack on iTunes! xoxo
Thanks for the review, Maybe I'll wait till it's on DVD, still want to see it though! :)
It is on my want to see list but I think I will wait for the DVD. Good to hear your feedback Tracy ~ it made me make my decision.
hmm, i wish this film would have been a bit better. from what i've read it doesn't sound amazing, but when it comes out on Netflix i think i'll still have to check it out. i like G's voice - Time McGraw is fun too! glad you had a nice time.
I haven't seen it yet. I've been to the movies a lot, though. Have you seen True Grit? Or Black Swan? Last night E and I saw The Fighter and it was probably my least favorite, but I'm still glad I saw it. I love going to the movies. :)
Love the picture of ya'll after the movie!!!
I wanted to see this, but sounds like maybe I can wait until it comes out on DVD.
A movie club?? That sounds like fun!!
I thought Gwyneth’s performance was phenomenal. I didn’t want to watch the movie but when my boyfriend found it was available through my employee subscription to DISH and their Blockbuster Movie Pass, I couldn’t get out of it. In the end, I was glad I watched it because I have a newfound respect for Gwyneth and her talents.
