Back to running!

I decided it is time for me to get my butt back in gear.  In high school through college, I was an avid runner.  It kept me energized, healthy, and mentally gave me the time to myself to think.  I completed my first half marathon nearly 2 years ago.  It was an awesome experience, and I loved it.

Since getting sick at the beginning of this year, I have taken the year off from exercising.  I've needed a little motivation to get back into it... so I am signing up for another half.  It's in March, and I am really looking forward to training for it.  I kicked off today, running a start of 3 miles.  Felt good - but hopefully I can stick to it :)

What is your favorite form of exercise?

i miss running!!!! once baby comes and i have the ok i plan to get back to my daily runs, i usually only can get in 3 miles (sometimes 4-5) but that seems to be enough to keep me in shape. and i actually just mentioned to my hubby today that i'd give up my gym membership just to get a treadmill! ;)

I have been a runner for about 10 years now. I love it! It is such a wonderful way to get your mind off of the everyday stresses and helps to keep your healthy.

Congratulations on starting again. You will be so glad you did.

By the way, I love the quote by Carrie Bradshaw at the top of your blog. I am a huge Sex in the City fan and love Sarah Jessica Parker. In fact, one of our baby girls is named Parker after Sarah Jessica Parker. If you get a chance, stop by my blog sometime.

Yay for running! Are you going to do Shamrockin'? I'm waiting for the doc to clear me to run again--my next appointment is tomorrow. I miss it so bad. Isn't it great thinking time?

I can't believe you started back today at 3 miles! Good for you! I got on the Wii Fit kick after Christmas last year and it really made me feel better throughout the winter months. I think I will have to dust it back off :o)

Good for you! My exercise of choice is cycling. There's something about turning the cranks mile after mile that allows me to quiet the noise in my head.

I wish I liked running. I hate it. Hopefully we will be getting a tredmill soon and it will start to grow on me. Please pass the running stick to me!

That is awesome! I like the elliptical but lately i've been walking at a fast pace on an incline and I'm loving mixing that up with some running. I agree that working out is great way to feel better and give yourself some me time. Good luck with your marathon!

I am doing the same thing...I am singing up for a bike ride this summer so I have to get back in shape! I have been "meaning" to get back to the gym, but now I have to! I can't wait to watch your progress (and hopefully motivate me, too!!)

I can't believe you STARTED at 3 miles! OH MAN. I have been trying to learn how to run for a while now, and I can't seem to get past the 1 mile mark!

I can't believe you did a half! You go girl! And way to go on kicking the running back up for ANOTHER ONE! Impressed! I need to get back in the gym, too... *sigh* It just FEELS so good to be able to run and not get exhausted or have to stop, etc. I'm definitely not at that place anymore...haha!

That is great! Good for you. I have been feeling the same way and I need to do something. I plan on hitting the gym back up in the mornings before work again in January. Hope I can stick to it!

Hi, Found you through Simone's blog "The Bottom of the Ironing Basket." I am training for my 3rd half marathon right now...I took a lot of time off of running because a torn miniscus and some hip tendinitis. I did my first half 10 years ago...it was a MAJOR accomplishment for a former Phys Ed drop-out. I'm running the Disney Princess Half Marathon in Feb. Good luck on your training, and I'll be back to visit again.

Way to go girl, proud of you! I'm with you - I've taken time off from exercising because of my health issues that attacked me mid year, but I need to get back at it. I definitely miss running. We should both do another half marathon! :)
