Some quotes I love...

I've always been a girl who loves quotes.  In college, written quotes from my mom, friends, and myself littered my apartment walls and refrigerator.  It was a constant reminder for me, and always uplifting!  I loved reading them daily.

Here are a few new ones I love... so I figured I would share:

"Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed."
-Storm Jameson

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade wind in your sails.  Explore. Dream. Discover."
-Mark Twain

"If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to it."
-Jonathan Winters

"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?"
-Robert Schuller

One of my all time favorite reminders - sang by Carrie Underwood
"And when you figure out love is all that matters after all, it sure makes everything else seem so small"
(Of course... I could go on forever with quotes, especially from Carrie Bradshaw.  These are just a few of my new favorites!)

Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

It's been two years.

2 years ago today...
TL asked me to marry him.
I can't believe how quickly 2 years have passed.
So much has happened - and we've grown closer than I ever thought possible.
The full story of our engagement is here...
but I figured I would just share a few pictures of our amazing engagement.
It was in Napa - August 29th, 2008.
A beautiful night.

Wine tasting - before he proposed.
Our first picture together as an engaged couple.  This was taken at the restaurant we ate at - Auberge du Soleil
The sweet look on his face (and a few tears) as we talked about the excitement of our future together.
I didn't eat a thing, cause I was SO excited.  So he ate for two :)
Walking around the beautiful vineyards calling our family & friends to tell them the news!

We stayed at our (now) favorite place ever - Wine Country Inn in St. Helena.

It was such an amazing, beautiful, fun day.
I'm all smiles just thinking about it!

Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

The year of boys!

Sweet babies...
Little teenie-tiny bundles of joy have been popping into the lives of people we love - it's so exciting!
2010 was not only the year of babies... but the year of boys!
4 of my cousins, and 2 close family friends have all had their baby boys (except one - she's due in September)
My cousin, Danelle, delivered precious baby Baron April 28th:
Baron's cousin, handsome lil' Conner, was delivered by my cousin Amanda just a few days earlier, April 24th:
My other cousin, Anna, delivered this cute little guy, Finn - just over a week ago! His Birthday is August 20th:
My cousin, Paula, delivered this tiny little man, Evan, August 23rd... he's brand new in this picture:
And our really special family friend, Jenny, delivered sweet baby Jackson on August 10th, he's still at the hospital in this picture:

And last... but certainly not least, another family friend, Erin, delivers her little guy in September... we are very excited to meet him too!

Aren't they all just adorable!?  I haven't met all of them, yet, but I am so excited too.  All of the moms are doing well and looking fabulous!
Our family is growing and we are so blessed to have beautiful, healthy babies!
What a year of blessings... and the color blue. ;)

San Francisco... I've missed you!

TL and I took a mini vacation (2 days) over to my favorite city in the world... San Francisco.  Because we haven't been in a couple months, I was so excited to get there.  The city gives me chills... the culture, the architecture, it's just gorgeous.  Not to mention, I have some fabulous memories there.
Because we haven't been in a while, we decided to go back to some of our own stomping grounds.. the Golden Gate Bridge (we felt like tourists) and hit up a few new restaurants!
Isn't it amazing!
We loved walking across it... the city looks so beautiful from there.  I love it!
The weather was stunning... hotter than I ever remember it while I lived there!  It was 93 degrees... even near the coast.  Beautiful!
We also went to the Exploratorium.  It was so much fun.  I've been to the base of it a few times, but never actually been inside.  We paid to get in, and had so much fun playing around!  It was awesome... not to mention, we learned a lot! ;)
It's so pretty... I loved it!
We met up with my cousin and one of my favorite people in the world, Greyson.  I love seeing him and catching up.  He lives in SF and I absolutely adore him.  We also met one of his friends, Jill, and went out for an early dinner and drinks.
Greyson, TL, and I also went to Beach Chalet, near the ocean, for lunch.  We sat out in the sun with a chilly drink and caught up.  Loved it!
It's gorgeous.
We tried a few new restaurants.
Palmino - near the bay bridge.  All day happy hour - and delicious!
We also ate at "The Grove" - a little expensive, but super yummy.
Goodness, I LOVE that city!

This week, TL & I were also featured on an amazing wedding blog!
Thanks, Jen, for featuring us. :)

I hope you're having a fantastic week!
XOXO

It's almost time for a vacation :)

I can't believe TL and I have been married almost a year (September 5th).  What an amazing, busy, roller-coaster of a year.
With both of us working full-time, and moving, and starting our life together on our own - we haven't had much time away.  But, this makes us appreciate the time we get so much more.  We are so excited... for our anniversary, we are taking a vacation to MAUI! :)
We both cannot wait!  I love the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.  In my mind, there is no place that has the feeling it does... it even smells good.  We are so excited to relax, spend time together, and have absolutely nothing on the agenda.
It's also a great time for us to reflect on the past year (how quickly it has passed) and talk about our plans for the future.
I haven't been out in the sun much this summer - so I am also excited to tan.  I've had to make a few small purchases at the Victoria's Secret swim sale... can't wait to relax with my toes in the sand!

We are staying in Kaanapali.
I have a lot of beautiful memories from there - and now, TL and I get to make our own :)

Hope you are having an amazing Saturday!

A memorable trip to Costco

TL and I were doing one of our routine trips to our favorite store, Costco, and something happened that I will not soon forget.
As we made our way around the middle section of the store that is filled with very low aisles, we saw a mom and her son with their dog.  The son was in a motorized wheel chair, obviously because of a serious injury he suffered.  He was unable to talk, but his facial expressions were still recognizable.
As we turned the corner on the aisle, I saw the sweet dog.  A beautiful golden retriever, clean cut, and looking as sweet as can be.  At first I thought it was a service dog, and as a general rule, remembered you don't pet service dogs.  I made a motion to TL, as well as the family about the dog.  The mom perked right up and said 'Oh, thank you!'

What happened next was just one of those moments that you experience that warms your entire soul... the son (probably late teens) drove his wheelchair right over to me to allow me to pet the dog.
But, I'm not saying he just drove the dog over... no, he knew what I was saying and responded immediately by saying with out words... "here, pet my dog!".  He had the biggest smile on his face... he was beaming.  This dog was his best buddy - and rather than staring at him in his chair... people notice the dog and the relationship between them.  That dog is his way of communicating.  The dog was tied firmly to his chair and went everywhere he went.
Instead of paying all my attention to the dog... I responded to his smile - his sweet, genuine, true smile.  I asked him if it was his buddy and what his name was.  His mom stepped in and answered my questions... and he nodded his head with his wide, ear-to-ear grin.
Everything about our meeting with this family was touching.  The way the mom handled her son, his compassion, and the adorable dog.
It's amazing to me that a dog can create such a relationship between strangers, that a dog can be such a special light in some one's life.
As soon as we said goodbye to the trio, a few steps further and I bursted out in tears.  They were such a sweet family - and I wasn't crying because I felt bad for them, but because they really reminded me about the true things in life - how we deal with the cards we are dealt... and that life is about the relationships we build - whether between people, or animals - friends, family, strangers.  It was very touching.
And as we were leaving Costco, I saw the boy and his dog waiting for mom at the exit.  A young family with a child in the front of the cart walked in.  The dad pointed to his young daughter to look at the dog... and within seconds... the boy and his dog were right next to the family so they could pet him.  The family responded so well, petting the dog, and talking to him.
And the boy just smiled - but that was enough for anyone to know exactly how he felt.

Sorry for the long story... but I had to share.
I wish you could have been there.
What a sweet reminder.

Thankful Thursday

Oh time, please slow down a little...
I'm so lucky to have so much to be thankful for each week!
I hope you are having a great Thursday, and getting ready for your weekend.

Here are a few things I am thankful for:
My soon-to-be brother in law proposed to my sister!!  YAY!  Her ring is absolutely stunning, and so perfect for her, but the best part of all is the man she's marrying.  He's compassionate, generous, and sweet as can be.  I truly love being around him and talking to him.  He is the perfect fit for my sweet sister & our family.  I am so excited to be a part of planning another wedding, especially Juju's, because she deserves it!  She will be a gorgeous bride.
(the darling couple)

Our move being (almost) over.  As fun as it has been to get settled, we are excited to have our "home" (nearly) put together.  I'm so fortunate to have a husband who loves the feeling of making a house a home as much (if not more) than me.

The jewelry shop we found near our house... they cleaned and tightened my ring up, and it looks sparkly and brand new.  It's such a good feeling.

I'm thankful for the red bull I drank today... it's keeping me going.  (I never drink those anymore... but today called for one!)

I'm thankful for the sweet, supportive people in my life that believe in me & always encourage me.  It's such a comfort to know that I have people who will stand beside me no matter what choices I make. :)

Hope you are having a great day... I am looking forward to having a little more time to spend on my blog.  It's been quite a busy few months... I am looking forward to slowing things down a bit and getting back into the small hobbies I enjoy.

What are you thankful for?

:)
