Apple Hill Xmas Tree Hunt

I love the mountains... especially in the winter time.
Even though Apple Hill is not technically the "mountains", it's close enough for me.

36 years ago, my mom and my dad were just dating.  They decided to go together to cut down tree's for their families and they went to Indian Rock Tree Farm in Apple Hill.
Through rain, wind, snow - you name it - they kept going year after year.  They got married, had three girls... and the tradition has remained the same every year.

Needless to say, it's an exciting tradition for our family.  The family-owned tree farm is beautiful... and every year they know we are coming back again.  This year, we got FOUR trees - one for all of our houses.  It was such a fun day!
Maximus & Zeus gearing up for a cold day of running around in the mountains.  Their scarfs and Christmas tree shirts kept them warm!
The family.
The silly family.
My sisters and nephew... he will grab your face and suck on your nose.  I think it's his way of smooching.
Our little family picture.
That's our tree before it was chopped down!
My dad and his favorite little "sidekick".

What are your family holiday traditions?

What a great tradition Tracy! I love that you all went together as a family ~ that my girl is a memory to cherish. Loving the "kids" sweaters and scarves.
Trev and I used to go to a tree farm and chop down our own, but between weather and having week-ends booked up solid, we have gone to a local nursery and picked out our tree there.

What a fun family tradition!!

Since we are now all scattered about our traditions are having to change some!

We all used to sit around Christmas morning and open stocking gifts and then have swedish tea ring made by The Firguy.

This year each of the kids will be having tea ring Christmas morning in their own homes...

Times change, life changes!

I have never in my whole life seen anything cuter than those little scarves on your pups!! Love them!!
I'm too far away now, but my dad still ventures into the woods every year to cut down a tree. We always used to bundle up and go out as a family, and get hot cider afterwards.
And PS- that last pic of Ry guy tucked up into your dad's sweatshirt is too precious.

Those are great family pics. You really get a feel for how much fun you all have together. That was one big tree! We don't have a lot of traditions. We have a fake tree and it usually goes up around Thanksgiving and every year is different. This year we are heading back to Illinois to celebrate with both our families. I'm really excited about that... a little homesick lately.

Make sure you get a special ornament for your first Christmas together as husband and wife! I still have ours...it was engraved:)

Omgosh, this is such a fabulous tradition! It sounds like a wonderful time spent with your family =) I love all the pictures... and your dogs look so precious!
For our family...every year on Christmas we all open up our stockings before we start on the rest of the gifts... and then Christmas night, I do not know how this possibly started, but we watch one of the Home Alone movies. I swear, we can all quote everyyy single part! So random, but it's so fun =)

What a fabulous tradition that your family keeps up - looks like it was a really special day.
The scarves are just too cute!
Our family tradition is to put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving @ my mom's house, but this year she had what we were calling the "trifecta" over Thanksgiving (pneumonia, sinus infection, ear infection!) so we put the tree on hold!

Love your family pictures! We normally go looking for a tree together, but sadly weren't able to get everyone in the same place for this year. Next time!

That's such a fun tradition! We have a fake tree right now *gasp* only because of the fear our little one will eat the real one...

When she gets a bit older I'm all about doing it Griswold style and cutting one down.

We have some traditions in our family, huge Xmas breakfast with bloody Mary's, Willie Nelson CD on Xmas eve, everyone stays at my mom's, make homeade polish Kielbasa...stuff like that. Love the holidays! :)
