Barcelona, Spain
Our first stop on our 3.5 week adventure through Europe! It was also my first experience ever on European ground (and TL's first time in Spain), and we both fell in love with this place. It's beautiful, friendly, full of history and truly a fun place to start. We explored so many places on our big journey, so i'll just slowly go through each of the big cities we visited :)
Here are some pictures:
This is our hotel room... definitely wasn't the Four Seasons, but it was safe and "fairly" clean. It was right on this popular street called "Las Ramblas" and appropriately named Las Ramblas 33.
We decided to do the "hop on hop off" day tour of Barcelona, and after doing it, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is traveling to a brand new city. We saw so much and learned so much in one day - and we were able to get off and explore each of the parts of the city that we wanted to!
This is a famous temple called La Sagrada Familia that is designed by famous Spanish architect Gaudi. It has been in the process of being built since 1882 and even though he died, they have built out his dream. It isn't expected to be fully done for another 30 to 80 years, but we were able to go in and to the top. We could hear their drills and hammers hard at work while we were looking around.
This is us at the top of La Segrada Familia. We climbed a lot of stairs, but it was totally worth it for the best view of Barcelona! This was TL's must- do in Barcelona, he couldn't wait to learn more about Gaudi.
This is us at Gaudi's house. He lived here before he died. It is extravagant and built and designed by him!
This is what we spent a lot of time doing on our entire trip... people watching and enjoying a cocktail. There are so many street performers along Las Ramblas, you can just sit there for hours and be entertained.
We heart Barcelona.
