NYC babyy!

If I haven't said it more than enough :) TL and I are leaving for NYC tomorrow - we fly out of San Francisco, so we are staying the night at his mom's apt in the city.  Early Wednesday we will be taking off to the big apple, and I could not be more excited.  We really are so fortunate to be able to take this trip.  So, if my blog posts are nonexistent, or very sparse, I apologize!

There is a funny story behind it though ...  TL and I were at a benefit auction for the DRAA (Diablo Regional Arts Association) in Walnut Creek back in November or December.  They were serving free wine and beverages and yummy food all night.  When it was time for the loud auction to take place, I purposely hid my auction paddle - we all know how easy it is to be impulsive.  The problem, however, is that TL did not.  The auctioneer talked so fast (don't they all) and when they got to a NYC trip, TL just threw his paddle up in the air.  So here we are, traveling to NYC... and we are helping out charity at the same time! :)

So, here is what our little package includes 2 Broadway plays of our choice.  So, we decided that we had to see Wicked (I hear its one of the best on Broadway) and Mary Poppins.  I love the story of Mary Poppins, so it was just a must see for me.  We could not be more excited.  And then, as I mentioned in an earlier blog, we also won free tickets to see the David Letterman show on Thursday.  Quite a busy little trip - very fun!

We are staying at the Westin Times Square.  It is a beautiful place, and we really are so lucky!  TL and I are also planning on doing some good shopping and eating at some really yummy local NYC spots.  If you have any suggestions of places that are a must see or must eat, let me know.  I went there a couple years back - but I can't remember much.  :)

Have an amazing time! Be sure to go to the Museum of Modern Art and then to Bar Americain, a restaurant right nearby (all of this is in the lower 50s on the West Side).

Like I said, Pastis has really yummy food and it's in the Meatpacking district, right near DVF. Also, Les Halles has amazing steaks. Serendipity III is a fun place (if you get the frozen hot chocolate). Also, Mario Batali has a restaurant right near NYU called Babbo that is amazing.
If you have time to go to the Met, I would reccomend it, I could spend an entire day there!
